Description

This course introduces the core principles of relief printmaking—one of the oldest methods of visual communication and a medium celebrated for its accessibility, affordability, and capacity for creative experimentation. Participants will learn how to set up an effective workspace; understand the fundamentals of the medium; and safely handle printing equipment, carving tools, and sharpening techniques. Through preparing and transferring imagery, printing by hand and on the press, students will create dynamic multi-block prints and explore specialized techniques such as chine collé.
