Workshop | Vision and Values for a Better World – with the Earth Charter
A 6-Week Self-Paced Online Course to inspire and help artist-teachers, creative practitioners, arts administrators and cultural policy writers communicate integrated ecosocial values with ease.
Join ecological artist | educator Dr Cathy Fitzgerald with philosopher Dr Nikos Patedakis, with other learners from Ireland and across the world to understand why integrated ecosocial values are crucial to guide us all in the urgent transition to a just and sustainable world.
Becoming fluent in more expansive and inclusive values is essential for cultural institutions’ communications, programming or education outreach, for individuals’ creative practice, teaching or curating and for science and business, to communicate the intersecting values of a sustainable, just world.
The Earth Charter and the children’s Little Earth Charter are rich values frameworks for art teachers and educators, and are ideal to guide an integrated whole-of-institute ethos for sustainability and social justice.
The Earth Charter is also particularly valuable to guide long-term embedded-in-place art community practices. During the course, Cathy will share how she is applying the Earth Charter to the Creative Drummin Bog wetland restoration community project.
Cathy is an accredited ESD Earth Charter Educator. Earth Charter International holds the UNESCO Chair for ESD and values education for sustainability. Cathy gratefully acknowledges an Arts Council Development Award that sponsored her training with the UN UPeace ESD Earth Charter programme.
