Alan Dunne and Alé Mercado Shortlisted for the World Illustration Awards 2020
Two Irish Illustrators, Alan Dunne and Alé Mercado, are shortlisted for the World Illustration Awards 2020. Alan Dunne is shortlisted for his work for the An Post Christmas Stamps 2019 in the Design Product & Packaging category and Alé Mercado is shortlisted for his work for West Cork Podcast Live Show in the same Design Category.
The World Illustration Awards are delivered annually by The Association of Illustrators (AOI) in partnership with the Directory of Illustration.
Alé Mercado and Alan Dunne have been selected for the final shortlist of 200 projects from 4,300+ entries submitted by illustrators from 79 countries into the World Illustration Awards 2020. Alé Mercado and Alan Dunne are both members of Illustrators Ireland, the Association of Illustrators (AOI) and Visual Arts Ireland (VAI).

Alan Dunne is an illustrator and author based in Ireland. He is passionate about vernacular design and uncovering stories through cultural historical archives. This is reflected in his heavily researched and considered comics, heritage-based commissions and through re-appropriation of vernacular graphics and typography in his practice. He teaches illustration part-time at the National College of Art & Design, Dublin.
Alé Mercado is a multi-award-winning illustrator based in Inistioge, Co. Kilkenny where he lives with his wife and two children.
