Painting the figure from life is a tried and tested method of learning the principles and techniques of oil painting. This course is designed to present these basic concepts and methods working from the nude in one 12 hour painting over 4 weeks. The instructor is Nicholas Robinson, a graduate and award winner of the Florence Academy of Art, Sweden. Nicholas will instruct in the visual method: translating what we observe from life into oil painting on the canvas. Instruction is based on the painter seeing, mixing and painting accurate colours which best describe the light, form and gesture of the model. We will learn about the materials involved, as well as some simple theory. This course is perfect as an introduction to this age old artistic practice and also as a challenge for the more experienced painter.
About the Tutor: Nicholas Robinson attended the Florence Academy of Art, Sweden, under the tutelage of the Swedish painter Joakim Ericsson – winning 2 awards during his time here.
