The LAB is delighted to present ‘What is it we lose as time goes by?’. This Bealtaine Festival event coincides with Anita Groener’s major solo exhibition The Past is a Foreign Country on view at the LAB. Join artists Anita Groener and Brian Fay ‘in conversation’ to consider how the concept of time seems to accelerate and decelerate at different stages in our lives. Join us for an informal conversation with tea/coffee and enjoy two friends reflecting on how their experience of time has influenced their lives as artists and affected their respective arts practices.
Anita Groener was born in The Netherlands and is based in Dublin, Ireland. In 2005, she was elected a member of Aosdana. Until 2014 she was a lecturer at the Dublin Institute of Technology where she also served as the Head of Fine Art from 2004 to 2006.
Brian Fay is an Irish artist living in Dublin, his practice is rooted in drawing and he uses the materiality of pre-existing artworks and objects to examine their complex relationship to time. He is a Senior Lecturer in Fine Art at Technological University Dublin and holds a practice led PhD from Northumbria University on the temporalities of drawing and conservation.
