‘Art in a Time of Transition’ – Call for Abstracts
Art in a Time of Transition – what might typify the changes taking place in art practice, criticism; curation; mediation; distribution; collecting; economic and geo-politic contexts?
As part of the AICA Ireland critical writing strand of Visual Artists Ireland’s Get Together 2014, a panel discussion is being held in order to air current positions on the subject of ‘Art in a Time of Transition’. Visual Artists Ireland’s Get Together is a resource / networking event for professional artists and organisations, taking place at The Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin (Friday 23rd May 2014)
Expressions of interest in participating on the panel are now being sought.
The panel discussion will comprise an informal dialogue, rather than a presentation of papers, with an emphasis on a lively exchange between peers about urgent issues around visual art production, mediation and distribution.
Up to four panellists and a chairperson will be selected from the applications. A speakers fee will be provided; and there is a limited budget for travel and accommodation.
Interested individuals should forward a brief abstract (max 500 words) outlining specifically how their current research and/or interests and/or professional experience and/or critical stance is relevant to the broad theme of ‘Art in a Time of Transition’.
Closing date: Monday 7 April 2014
