On the occasion of Midnight Swim, Lesley-Ann O’Connell’s first solo exhibition with the gallery, O’Connell will be in conversation with fellow painter, Kathy Tynan.

Lesley-Ann O’Connell is an artist from County Meath. She graduated with a Bachelors and a Masters in Fine Art Painting from NCAD in 2008 and 2014.
Between 2009 and 2018 she has exhibited in Dublin showing work with galleries including NCAD, Monster Truck, Taylor Galleries, SO Fine Art Editions. She had her first solo-show Surface in Motion (2015) with Pallas Projects/Studios. She has shown with Kevin Kavanagh Gallery for group exhibition Island Life (2018). She has participated in group shows country-wide, with Solstice Arts Centre, Visual, The Model and Custom House Studios.
She was recipient of Painting Prize at Claremorris Open Exhibition (2017). Public collections include, AXA, IMACT (FORSA) and OPW.
Kathy Tynan graduated from NCAD with a BA in 2008 and an MA in 2010. Tynan makes paintings which focus on details and particularities of everyday domestic and urban environments. Recent solo and selected two person exhibitions include Atonal Supersound, Kevin Kavanagh, Dublin (2017); Traversées du Marais, Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris (2018) and Hands Laid On, Kevin Kavanagh, Dublin (2016). Recent selected group shows include Trophy Hunters, Dada Post, Berlin (2018); Constellations, Kuvataide Academia, Helsinki (2018) and Many Worlds, Centre Cultural Irlandais, Paris (2017). Last summer she carried out a three month residency in Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris. Last November she published her first book of paintings, Proud & Strong All Day Long. She is currently undertaking a six month studio residency at the RHA where she is preparing for her second solo show with Kevin Kavanagh this September.
