Celebrate your Organisations Commitment to Equitable Payment Conditions for Artists

Celebrate your organisations commitment to equitable payment conditions for artists

In 2012 we created the campaign ‘Ask! Has the Artist been paid? Since then much has happened. Guidelines have been implemented and funding bodies such as The Arts Council, The Arts Council of Northern Ireland, and Dublin City Council have clearly stated their support for the equitable payment of artists.

The overall positive response and commitment to the payment of artists has been overwhelming. Organisations who have paid artists are now joined by organisations who have used the Visual Artists Payment Guidelines to implement the policy in their own programming.  We have also been humbled by the response of artist led spaces who are self-funded and not in receipt of public funding as well as organisations in receipt of minimal funding who have adopted the guidelines as part of their everyday work.

For this reason we, in VAI, have come up with a way to celebrate and offer organisations a form of recognition. We have created a simple image that organisations can place on their websites to clearly show their commitment to paying artists equitably. We hope that this can be our way of saying thank you for your support and also allow organisations due recognition from artists and from the general public.

The image will provide a first visual cue to all that indicates the long-term commitment you’ve made to providing equitable conditions for artists in your organisation, and your clear commitment to social and corporate governance.

We even made a little video...see here
