Copper Etching and Aquatint with Karen Daye-Hutchinson
Join long-time BPW member Karen Daye-Hutchinson for this, hands-on, introduction to etching on copper. Etching is a medium with a long and varied history and can produce prints with great detail, richness and texture. The aim of this course is to give you an idea of the possibilities of the medium and a thorough introduction to working with hard and soft grounds (line, pattern and texture) as well as aquatints (tones) across multiple small plates.
Designed for beginners or those with some experience, you can expect to leave with beautiful plates and a small edition etchings as well as a clear foundation on how to create editions of your image adding to the growth of your printmaking and artistic practice.
Participants are asked to bring along some research or images to work from. These could be drawings, magazine clippings, books, photographs; anything that will inspire you! All Materials are included and additional copper plates can be purchased at £10 per A5 sheet
