Creative Climate Leadership Training Course, Wales

PrintDeadline: 16 January 2017

Applications are open for Creative Climate Leadership (CCL) Training Course, a new pan-European programme for artists and cultural professionals to explore the cultural dimensions of climate change, and take action with impact, creativity and resilience.

The first universal agreement on climate change – the Paris Agreement – came into force on 4th November 2016, and there is now a need for urgent, collaborative and creative leadership to enable its success. Creative Climate Leadership recognises the unique role of culture to influence new ways of being, doing and thinking, and supports creative professionals to apply these abilities to the climate challenge. The programme will involve training courses, events and policy labs.

The first international training course will take place in Wales, UK, between 27 – 31 March 2017, facilitated by Julie’s Bicycle, a London-based charity supporting the creative community to power action on climate change, and Slovenian-based sustainable development and training NGO, PiNA. The five-day intensive course is aimed at artists and cultural professionals looking to develop their leadership skills in relation to climate change. Applications will be considered from all creative disciplines and art forms. Applications from organisations that work directly with the cultural sector, such as networks, associations, funding bodies and policymakers, will also be considered.

A second training course will take place in Slovenia later in the year.

The course costs £1,000 for UK residents and €1,200 for international applicants, which includes tuition, accommodation and food. Participants are expected to pay for their own travel. There are five free places and travel bursaries available for freelance (self-employed) applicants for each training course.

Financial support: There are five free places and travel grants available for freelance (self-employed) applicants. Applicants should indicate on the application form whether they would like to be considered for this support.

Creative Climate Leadership brings together eight European partners that represent a broad geographical region, a variety of art form specialisms, and various approaches to building capacity for environmental action across the European creative sector. The partnership is led by Julie’s Bicycle and supported by On the Move, PiNA, EXIT Foundation, KRUG, Ars Baltica, COAL and mitos21.
