Egg Tempera, Landscape and Portrait with Fergus Ryan at Schoolhouse for Art, Enniskerry

Fergus A Ryan is a well-known landscape and portrait painter, and many of his finely-detailed works are executed in the medieval technique of egg tempera. Fergus’s paintings have been exhibited at the National Gallery of Ireland’s Portrait Prize, the Royal Ulster Academy of Arts, and the Royal Hibernian Academy, as well as at a number of commercial galleries. International Artist magazine published an 8-page article on his work.

This three-day egg tempera workshop is designed to give the maximum practical hands-on individual learning experience in this beautiful medium. Fergus will demonstrate each step and participants will complete a tempera painting from start to finish. A recommended materials list will be sent to all applicants, and at the workshop each will receive a previously-prepared true gesso panel.

The programme will include:

· Hands on: breaking eggs and making your own egg tempera paint
