Saturdays 21 and 28 January, 11am to 4pm | Course fee: €120
BLOCK T, 8 Basin View, Dublin 8

BLOCK T Skillsets presents Electronic Music: Production and Performance, a 2 day workshop with Brian Dillon (Meltybrains?).

This 2 day workshop will help participants explore new outlooks in electronic music, engaging with the subject in an accessible way both practically and with elements of theory.

This workshop will also look at the skills needed to explore these new perspectives – these skills will include elements of Ableton Live, Max MSP/PD and Max for Live, as well as interaction design, arrangement, sound design and performance tutorage and advice. Arduino and Wekinator will also be touched on.

As well as this, the course aims to question the precedents, which are often set in electronic music performance, and to provide alternative answers. Is pressing the play button on a midi control or pad enough to constitute a performance? The goal of this course is for every student to have devised a suitable way of performing electronic music of his or her making by the end of the 2 days.

* All students are required to have a laptop and must be happy to download programs and software for the course.
