Mark Foran’s work is eclectic in his approach to art mediums depending on his metal state. His art practice changes throughout the months of each year, but stay within regular tradition art forms such as drawing, painting, sculpture, print making, sound art, video work, poetry and performance.
This show has all these mediums in the setting of a house turned into a pop up gallery space, most of his work is done at home, he has a DIY punk idealism .
The bad art club is a symbol to anonymous creativity, and his inspiration comes from a large image collection ranging from antiquity to cave art, architecture, to Tribal art and much more, which he gathers from local library’s, absorbing images of all kinds, photocopying an keeping as research in a large reference file, he is a collector of things and a big admirer of all crafts. The penumbra afflatus is hinting towards ritualistic transformation and mysticism which he engages in. The artist considers himself a psychonaut. With a serious interest in the signs and symbols of planet earth and altered states.
Born in Enniscorthy co Wexford, he studied at Gorey school of art and graduated from NCAD fine art painting in 2014, he is also a member of damn fine print Dublin an has been practising art for many year, this will be his third solo exhibition, post studying art. All the work is funded by the social welfare.
