2020 marks ten years since the Artist in the Community (AIC) Scheme Bursary award was inaugurated. We are pleased to announce that this year, we will award two AIC Scheme bursary awards. The first will focus on the theme of Collaborative Arts and Cultural Diversity, and specifically aims to support an artist from a minority ethnic or migrant background. This bursary, offered in partnership with the Irish Refugee Council, closes for applications on the 17th August.
On Wednesday 5th August, Create will host an information event for artists in relation to this bursary. In this information session Áine Crowley, Programme Manager, Arts and Engagement, will outline the Bursary, answering any questions you might have about making an application. She will be joined by Ruairi O’Neill, Director of the Irish Refugee Council, who are partnering with Create on the 2020 Bursary award on Collaborative Arts and Cultural Diversity.
The focus of discussion will frame the context of this Bursary, the application process and how a Bursary could help facilitate and support experiment, research and professional development. Artist Anthony Haughey, previous Bursary recipient (Collaborative Arts and Cultural Diversity, 2013), will speak to his experience and the role the Bursary played in the development of his practice.
