SUMMARY:An Outer Reflection of an Inner Reality | Karen Ebbs at Municipal G
 allery\, dlr LexIcon
DESCRIPTION:In this installation of large-scale colourful oil paintings\, s
culptures and plexiglass mirrors Karen Ebbs explores ideas relating to ref
lection\, perception and reality. At the heart of the work is colour\, lif
e-affirming and transformative. In a time of ecological and social challen
ge\, Ebbs uses colour as a quiet rebellion against grey apathy to offer ho
pe. Using mirrors\, the boundaries between the artworks and the individual
collapse. Viewers are confronted with their own reflections as they becom
e interwoven with the artworks. Through this interaction visitors become p
art of an ever-changing installation which is continuously altered by thei
r presence. This idea challenges the notion of separation and how we perce
ive ourselves\, offering viewers an opportunity to pause.\nKaren Ebbs is a
Dublin-based artist and a member of Pallas Projects and Studios. She rece
ived a Masters in Fine Art\, in painting from NCAD in 2023 and was subsequ
ently shortlisted for the RDS Visual Arts Awards. She also studied at the
Royal Hibernian Academy School\, Dublin. Recent solo exhibitions include R
 athfarnham Castle\, 2024\, Farmleigh Estate\, 2022 and the LAB Gallery\, D
ublin\, 2022. In 2022\, Karen received an Agility Award from the Arts Coun
cil of Ireland and a Professional Development Award from dlr Arts Office.O
