An exhibition titled ‘Astray in the Reflection of Moon on Water’ by Regine Bartsch will open on October 8th at the Kenmare Butter Market in Kenmare, County Kerry. The exhibition finishes on October 30th with performance pieces, including Not Always So, which was part of her show at the Venice Biennale 2019. The industrial sized space of the Kenmare Butter Market is the ideal location to feature a selection of Regine’s large scale drawing based work from 2014 to the present, most of it seen for the first time in Ireland.
Her subject matter is both the beauty and simultaneously the increasing loss of nature and natural states.
Bartsch repurposes detritus of all kind together with delicate rice and bamboo papers to create supports for drawings she stitches, pastes and collages into multi layered pieces.
An integral part of the artists shown will be sculptures of glass, metal and paper and a selection of her short films.
