Behind the Eye

Within Lucy Moyes’s work, she explores the impact the subconscious has on our experiences, how it affects how we cope and express our understanding of things. In her last award-winning show, much of her imagery related to cell mutation with certain illnesses and the diminishment of growths. Now she feels her work is influenced by the external environment more.  Like art and instincts, illnesses are undeniably a part of human life and have always been with us from the beginning of time. Illness and decline are normal, yet we feel and act abnormal. The reality of situations feels dreamlike and surreal, which is something she hopes to capture within her imagery. She loves the idea of looking at a piece as it reminds us either of something within, something outside of your body or even outside of your being altogether.
