Opening: Thursday 7 March, 6 to 8pm.
The exhibition will showcase the work of award winning artists and photographers and as the name suggests it’s all about ‘connection’ – how we can connect with each other, with nature, with art and most importantly with ourselves.
The group, who met online, through the ‘Bite the Biscuit’ community – an online community for creative people to connect & collaborate has so much diversity – there’s quirky portraiture – some of which hangs in Google’s HQ, there’s bright and colourful abstract Art, there’s incredible seascapes, insanely detailed mathematically engineered 3-Dimensional Paper Art, astounding photography which makes the ordinary look extraordinary, beautiful nature paintings, fired Encaustic paintings using molten pigmented beeswax and intricately designed polymer clay art.
Some of the group studied at art college, while others found life catapulted them out of their comfort zones through bereavement and illnesses and they have found there’s amazing healing in the power of creativity. This is something that connects these artists with their customers- there’s depth and empathy that relatable.
All of the artists have a story to tell – their mediums and styles are so different but there is a common thread that connects them and that’s their passion to bring beauty and meaning to their work and to their lives. And especially to translate this to the lives of their collectors.
Seascape Artist Fran Halpin says she finds water “infinitely fascinating; the way light hits a wave and sparkles as it undulates is mesmerising to me. I want people to feel transported to somewhere beautiful, calm and full of positive energy when they gaze at my paintings.”
Tara Prendergast, Founder/CEO of The Biscuit Factory ™ says “I feel inspired to be part of a Creative Community whose passion lies not only in their individual disciplines but in the appreciation that greatness comes from connecting and supporting each others journey. ‘Connected’ represents the collaboration of a new breed of Artist, standing proud, together”.
The artists showing are: Ana Dorado, Emma Higgins, Deborah Cogley, Karen Hickey, Niamh O’Connor, Isabelle Gaborit, Miriam Fitzgerald Juskova, Angela Emsen-West, Liga Valge, Rachel McDermott, Valerie Sweeney and Fran Halpin.
