Exhibition of contemporary textiles by using the technique of wax resist and dye on cotton, linen, silk and canvas. Mary Lee Murphy is concerned with exploring this medium and the different qualities of fabric. It involves paying attention to the marks made with wax, gold leaf and sewing, revealing the inherent qualities of the material and the process. This is a unique exhibition showing thirteen of Mary Lee Murphy’s large scale textiles, each one taking several months to complete.
This body of work has been inspired by the landscape of Connemara and the artist’s garden.
