Sheena was brought up in the mountains of South Wales and later moved to live on the south east coast of Ireland beside the sea. Being surrounded by countryside all her life Sheena developed a fascination of colours and textures in nature which is emanated in her work.

With a growing interest in the texture and perspective in painting, using mainly oil paints, combined with pencil drawing and ink Sheena creates atmospheric broody scenes documenting the ever changeable seasons through the depiction of light.
Sheena is constantly experimenting using different mediums, working on large stretched canvases and board, which she tries to make, all the while adding to the aesthetic development and context of the paintings and echoing her love of texture.

In developing this practice Sheena delves into vast research of an idea and memory of a place, documenting scenes through photography, drawings and text, observing textures and colour, in the stone, wood or material and translating this information into drawings and sketches, colour experiments and eventually a painting.
