Niamh Hynan is a visual artist whose practice is concerned with exploring gestural marks and energy within our environment. Her painting presents a dynamic centre of movement within the stable confines of the canvas. This creates a sense of tension and excitement. The shapes within the work tantalize, they are open to interpretation. The gestural sweeping marks with viscosity and seeping properties are explored in the paint.
Her new body of work is concerned with abstraction. Originally her painting would have directly connected with the theme of bog landscape but over the years her work has steered through a more abstract expression focussing on gestural marks and an exploration of colour.
Niamh Hynan originally from Carbury, Co. Kildare. She studied Art, Design and Mixed Media in Ballyfermot Senior College, Fine Art degree in Painting in DIT and a H. Dip in Art and Design Education in NCAD.
