Hamilton Gallery Sligo
Hamilton Gallery are pleased to host ‘Fun and Games’ an exhibition of ceramic sculptures by Brigit Beemster.
Eddie Lee, musician, composer, music producer and Director of Sligo Jazz Festival, will open the exhibition on Saturday, 7th March at 12 noon. All are welcome.
This exhibition celebrates the value of music.
Music is a pain killer, an anti-depressant, an escape. It makes us dance and sing and laugh, and it is a way of communication. It makes life bearable, and even worth living.
It bridges the divides between rich and poor a bit. I bet even homeless people listen to music to make life a bit more bearable. Anybody, from the guy in the ivory tower to the homeless person on the street listens to music.
These pieces are a bit of the history of 20th century music. Although they don’t represent all types of music, they do represent a wide variety, because what ticks one person’s box doesn’t necessarily tick another person’s box, and all boxes need to be ticked. And we need as many different boxes as possible.
