Get Together 2018 takes its inspiration from Visual Artists Ireland’s new vision statement – We dare to dream of a time when visual artists will live in a world of opportunities. In this year’s event we will look at each other’s experiences and see what we can learn through the open exchange of ideas. In particular, we will hear from artists at different levels of experience about their work, their inspirations, and gain an understanding of how they have overcome obstacles to chase this world of opportunities. We will have presentations from key residencies available to Irish artists, as well as from artists who have taken time to use them to step outside of their day to day lives. We will look at ways of thinking differently about ourselves as we search out ways to network and build positive relationships. We will learn from the specific sector of Photography about how this area of practice has built up a reputation, developed a unique voice, and come to be recognised for quality with a view to sharing this experience across all art forms. Speed curating returns in all its frenzied glory as do the ever popular clinics, where recognised experts will be available to discuss a wide range of issues on a one-to-one basis. All of this surrounding the Visual Artists Café, where arts organisation and artists support agencies will gather to provide information about their services as well as a place to perch and catch up with friends old and new.
Get Together 2018 will take place on Monday 21st of MAY at IMMA. To book tickets visit here.
