Histrionics | Lisa O’Donnell at Anderson Contemporary, London
Location |
Opening reception Wednesday 27th, 6 – 8pm. Gallery hours 11am – 6pm. Anderson Contemporary presents Histrionics, a. solo exhitbion by Irish artist Lisa O’Donnell. The work presented has been completed during a 2-year residency at the galleries studios and also forms part of O’Donnell PhD which she is currently completing at the Royal College of Art. It presents ‘contemporary history painting’ as an interpretation of 20th-century Irish women’s history. A feminist methodology is used to present a redress to historical omissions and misreadings alongside semi-fictional or ‘what if?’ contemplations of history. Deliberately manipulated narratives are combined with painting strategies that aim to present the very constructed nature of history. Map
