Ali Waters Emerging Artist in Residency @The Darkroom
The exhibition is a photographic love letter to Dublin
Ali grew up on Dublin’s northside, this body of work began by finding beauty in the often noted as mundane surroundings of her inner-city upbringing.
The exhibition includes portraiture, urban landscape & sculpture, and is an effort to show the everyday life and love in places that can be hard to be in, and people that are beautiful to be with. She hopes this is evident. The process of hand printing each individual piece is a labour of love dedicated to each image.
Ali is a self-taught photographer and therefore her work is not constrained by traditional methodology. Ali’s work is raw, innocent & heartfelt. The reality is Ali’s work is attributed to the fact that she has lived in & is from the places in which she has captured.
Ali’s ethos for herself is that in order to make work that is real, she must have a connection to the person or place she is photographing.
