In Search of Colmcille

This exhibition represents the artist’s journey to learn about Saint Colmcille in this year of the 1500th anniversary of his birth. Her home place, the heritage town of Kells, has strong associations with Colmcille and the very streets of the town still hold the shape of the Medieval monastery.  In Kells we walk daily in the footsteps of the scribes of the sacred texts.

Born in 521, the life of Colmcille has blended with the mists of time to generate a wealth of stories of miraculous power and humble spirituality, and portraying him in the various guises of Prince, Poet, Priest and Exile. These stories are portrayed in the exhibition through various modalities including, collage, block print, stitch, textiles and eco-print.
