SUMMARY:Ireland and the Academy | Art History Reframed with Dr Matthew Whyt
 e at Triskel Arts Centre
DESCRIPTION:Art Historian Dr Matthew Whyte offers a new lecture series\, wh
ich takes the audience on an art-filled journey through the often beautifu
l\, sometimes scandalous\, and always fascinating moments in the developme
nt of Western civilisation.\n\nThe lectures can be attended as a series\,
but are also designed as standalone talks\, which can be attended individu
ally.\n\nThis lecture will look at how in the 1600s Irish artists drew on
the prevailing academic tradition to create a distinctly Irish identity.
