HOPE, established in 1999, is dedicated to promoting the protection of street-connected children, and slum dwelling communities in Kolkata, India. The children and families in HOPE’s care, are amongst some of the most vulnerable and underprivileged in our world. HOPE’s vision is of a world where it should never hurt to be a child, and we invite you to help us to realise this vision.

HOPE currently delivers over 60 programmes across a range of sectors including child protection, education , healthcare, family re-integration and vocational training. Key within our operations include 12 protection homes for street connected children and a 40-bedded hospital, which provides surgical and medical care for street connected and slum dwellers – who otherwise would not have access to hospital care. Working in partnership with local communities, HOPE believes in sustainable development to ensure that this cycle of abject poverty can be broken, and that basic human rights are addressed. The current Covid 19 pandemic has hit Kolkata hard, and was compounded by the super cyclone Amphan, which was the worst to hit West Bengal in living memory. HOPE responded immediately by providing emergency food and sanitation supplies and by treating Covid-infected patients in our hospital. Our emergency response team has already distributed aid to almost 25,000 families in Kolkata.

However, the needs of the most vulnerable continue to mount and the work of HOPE continues to expand. HOPE desperately needs support to ensure that our life saving work with the poorest of the poor can continue.
