‘Keepsakes’ Decade of Centenaries Exhibition Launch Achill born, Margo McNulty, was the recipient of the prestigious Decade of Centenaries Artist Residency, offered by Mayo County Council Arts Service in partnership with the Jackie Clarke Museum. Her commission, entitled Keepsakes involved gathering examples of ‘personal objects’, mementos or stories relating to the period of the War of Independence, the Treaty, and Civil War. Keepsakes will be officially launched in the Jackie Clarke Collection, Ballina on October 23rd at 2pm. The exhibition will include examples of keepsakes that are loaned to the collection by families, and historical societies. Some of the photo-etching are based on artifacts from the Jackie Clarke Collection. Other photo-etchings are based on family Keepsakes provided by both members of the public and by historical societies. The paintings are a response to the physical landscape around county Mayo where several significant incidents took place 100 years ago. A publication will also be produced in November. This initiative is supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media under the Community Strand of the Decade of Centenaries Programme Map
