SUMMARY:Macalla na Mara | Marie Connole at the Birr Theatre
DESCRIPTION:\n\nExhibition runs 01/09/26-10/10/26.\n"Macalla na Mara — Se
a Memory" reimagines the legend of Cill Stuifín\, a mythical city submerg
ed beneath the Atlantic. Through delicate watercolours and evocative acryl
ic paintings\, Marie Connole explores loss\, transformation and rebirth\,
with seaweed as a guide through an altered world. Recurring symbols—keys
\, six-fingered hands\, luminous figures and religious iconography —hint
at hidden systems of meaning.Based in the west of Ireland\, Connole's wor
k has been exhibited nationally and internationally\, including a solo sho
w at the Irish Arts Center in New York (2018) and will feature in a forthc
 oming TG4 documentary.
