For the 2021 programme The MART Gallery Dublin Directors Ciara Scanlan & Matthew Nevin will continue to champion the work of visual art and performance artists in Ireland. Providing a range of opportunities for artists including workspace, exhibition and live event space to come together to develop, present, document and critically discuss work. The programme will include artists from across the country and of all career levels, in order to build, strengthen, and support arts in Ireland. With a growing body of performance artists in Ireland, whose work has a power to speak to audiences through practices that are rich and diverse, we feel excited for 2021 to focus on this exciting discipline to provide a platform for the temporal nature of performance and its artists. Through a series of Live Art Projects we will support and present work by Amanda Coogan, Dominic Thorpe, Katherine Nolan, Francis Fay and present a retrospective exhibition by the late Eleanor Lawler. We will also develop a new commission with Zithelo Bobby Mthombeni and support hundreds of artists through our studio network, while continuing our annual Studio Members exhibition and Exhibition Award show with Lily O’Shea and Lana May Fleming in partnership with Crawford College of Art and Fingal Arts Office. Throughout the year we will support artists through a gallery residency providing vitally needed gallery space as a place to experiment, workshop, create, develop and document new work. We are delighted to announce that Karolina Adamczak, Tobi Bello, Niamh O’Beirne, Michelle Browne, Robyn Byrne, Tara Carroll, Laura O’Connor, Child Naming Ceremony, Wren Dennehy, Kevin Gaynor, Luke van Gelderen, Léann Herlihy, Amanda Hunt, Laura Kelly, Bernie Masterson, Elaine Mcginn, Aaron Monaghan, and EL Putnam will join this residency. This programme is kindly supported by MART Gallery & Studios, Dublin City Council and The Arts Council of Ireland. Image Credit: Map
