Custom House Studios is pleased to present nature│pattern, an exhibition of new paintings by Tinka Bechert.

Departing from earlier figurative works, Tinka Bechert’s recent, largely abstract paintings reflect on transformative processes, bodily perceptions and organic forms.
An abstract gesture might suddenly turn into an arm; the spontaneity of free-form spray-paint is juxtaposed, even undermined by a controlling grid. Patterns weave in and out of gesture, abstract fields and remnants of figuration. The artists intermittent juggling of collage, print media and painterly elements of varying tempos and rhythms underscores a deeply inquisitive engagement with painting; a complex, dynamic and forward-looking concern.
Born and raised in Berlin, Tinka Bechert has been living in Ireland for over twenty years. Her work is represented in many private and public collections including the Office of Public Works, Ireland, the National Library, Berlin, the Victoria & Albert Museum and Tate Britain, London.
Recent Exhibitions include the New York Painting Center in 2017, the Beep Painting Biennal in the UK in 2018 and a major Solo Exhibition with her Berlin Gallery (Galerie Gerken) in 2018/19 supported by Culture Ireland. Earlier this year, Tinka Bechert was awarded the VAI Center Culturel Irlandais Paris Residency Award.
