’s work recalls the promise and the threat of the paradox that forms the
root of all culture. We are as physical beings finite but gifted or curse
d with infinite imagination. The attempt at resolution of the paradox has
given us art and artists.\n\n\n\nPadraic Reaney is a prolific practitioner
and has been since the start of his artistic career. His back catalogue i
s immense and An Gailearaí is both happy and honoured to show a selection
of his oeuvre. Padriac’s practice encompasses painting\, printing and s
culpture and is a truly adept draughtsman.\n\n\n\nBorn in Cheathrú Rua\,
Co Galway in 1952\, Padraic studied Fine Art at the Galway Regional Techni

appiness”\, a celebratory exhibition to mark 75 th Anniversary of the UN

activities around county Galway\; he sat on the board on the Galway Arts
Centre 1996 – 99\, he was a founder member of Western Artists Island Con
nection and the Drimcong Press\, he was awarded the Pádraic Mac Con Midhe
Prize at the Oireachtas 1979\, The Galway Arts Centre presented a mid-car
eer retrospective 1973 – 1993 that toured to six counties\, he exhibited
a series of photographs based on this work of the ruined cottages in Ros
an Mhíl (1979-1983) at the Galway City Museum\, July-October 2008.\n\n\n\

tings and graphics and are held in many public and private collections. He
has completed numerous public commissions\, notably the Liam Ó Flaherty

sculpture therein. In 2007 he completed the ‘Diarmaid and Grainne’ bro
