Online Artist Talk | A Walk in the May Dew – Bealtaine Festival

Delving into Michael Fortune’s wealth of research and knowledge, Celebrating May will introduce you to customs and traditions associated with May Day, the May Bush and the month of May.
Michael Fortune is an artist and folklorist based in Co. Wexford. In 2015, Michael and Aileen Lambert established The County Wexford May Bush Festival in a bid to bring attention to the Wexford May Bush tradition. It aims to connect the individuals and communities that still continue the old tradition, while opening up conversations and encouraging new people to get involved. 2020 saw this festival gain in popularity not just in Ireland but with communities around the world.
Caoimhe Dunn is an associate artist with Siamsa Tíre. She is thrilled to bring this talk to you as part of her current work, researching and exploring folk festival traditions in Ireland from the view of a Street Arts and Spectacle artist. You can find out more about her work on her website dunncreate.mystrikingly.com or Facebook and Instagram @CaoimheDunnArtist.
