The Louth & Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB) Robert Ballagh Art & Photography Competition, in its’ sixth year is open to students and learners attending LMETB’s 18 Secondary Schools, three Post Leaving Cert Colleges, three VTOS Centres, nine Youthreach Centres and four Community National Schools. The Competition is open to any student or learner who wishes to submit a piece of art. There are six categories with a total of thirty prizes on offer. The competition judge is one of Ireland’s most well-known living Artist, Robert Ballagh. A universal Photography Section is judged by internationally renowned Drogheda Photographer, Des Clinton.
This exhibition will open in Droichead’s online Viewing Room, our virtual gallery, on Fri 14 May.
The competition took on a different format this year with on-line submissions only. Unfortunately, The Awards Ceremony for this years’ competition didn’t take place in the Droichead Arts Centre, Drogheda, as usual due to Covid-19 restrictions and sadly the winning students missed out on the opportunity to have their work framed and exhibited in a gallery for two weeks for the public to enjoy. It is for this reason that this year’s winners will be invited to have their work framed and put on show as part of next year’s winners’ exhibition which has the promise to be a double delight.
