 on a national treasure!\n\n\n\nMembers of the public are invited to attend
  an online talk during Heritage Week that will focus on the conservation o
 f a true national treasure.\n\n\n\nThe Goose Girl&nbsp\;(1888) is a much l
 oved oil painting by Edith Somerville in the collection of Crawford Art Ga
 llery.\n\n\n\nThe Goose Girl&nbsp\;is now the subject of conservation trea
 tment while the doors of Crawford Art Gallery are closed for its major red
 evelopment. Supported by the Heritage Council through the Heritage Steward
 ship Fund 2025\, this crucial work will ensure the historic painting’s f
 uture.\n\n\n\nThis public talk will shed new light on the painting\, explo
 ring its history and the steps being taken to care for it in Crawford Art 
 Gallery’s new mobile conservation laboratory. This talk will feature thr
 ee speakers: conservator Chiara Chillè\, registrar Jean O’Donovan\, and
  curator Michael Waldron.\n\n\n\nThis initiative underscores Crawford Art 
 Gallery’s commitment to best-practice heritage care\, adhering to a prin
 ciple of minimal intervention—carrying out only those treatments necessa
 ry to stabilise and preserve the original condition of an artwork.\n
