Other People’s Practices (OPP) is an artist residency and research project. Phase 1 took place in Usher’s Island, a National Forensic Mental Health Service community centre in Dublin 8, and supported the production of collaborative, socially engaged projects with recovered and recovering service users of the Central Mental Hospital.

Other People’s Practices: And More Besides is a high level summary of Phase 1 of OPP and its transitioning period to Phase 2. It is researched and written by Dr Sheelagh Broderick. And More Besides… is funded by the artsandhealth.ie documentation bursary award 2019.

The online launch of the publication will be hosted by Caroline Cowley, Public Art Co-ordinator with Fingal County Council. The panel talk will be chaired by Sheelagh Broderick and features OPP’s first resident artists Emma Finucane, Glenn Loughran, and Jonathan Cummins.

This event will also feature the premiere of an exhibition-to-film taking place concurrently in the NCAD Gallery, featuring process work and outputs from Phase 1.

Attendance is free. If you would like to purchase a publication in addition to your ticket choose the €3.00 ticket option on Eventbrite. There are a limited number of publications which will be posted to ticket holders while stocks last. Postage is included within the price and the publication will be sent to you in advance of the event.

Other People’s Practices is funded by Creative Ireland’s National Creativity Fund, directed and curated by John Conway, and made possible by a partnership with the National College of Art and Design, the National Forensic Mental Health Service, and the HSE, with support from Waterford Healing Arts Trust.
