Not the time to be silent’ is an online Arts response to social distancing in the form of a weekly guest Poetry reading + open mic event and a Facebook community group. The first event was on March 20 2020. NTTTBS was set up by Siobhan Potter, an artist and writer whose practice documents experience. Now more than ever we need to write and gather and be heard. Events are held Thursdays @ 8pm Irish time via zoom,
Guest Poets read @ 8pm, for up to 15 minutes, followed by the open mic. The zoom door opens at 7.45pm for the open mic sign up, each open mic slot is for up to 3 poems in under 5 minutes. Access to events is through the ‘not the time to be silent’ Facebook group.Further details are in the group about, events and announcements sections.

Maeve McKenna is from Dublin, now living in Sligo. She has been writing poetry and short stories all her life. In 2018, her work was shortlisted for the Red Line and highly commended in the iYeats International Poetry Competitions. In 2019, she was highly commended in the Frances Ledwidge and longlisted in the Over The Edge Poetry competitions. She was joint runner-up in the Trim Poetry Competition, 2020. Her work has been published in The Galway Review, Boyne Berries, Fly on the Wall, The Cormorant, Skylight47 and Sonder Magazine. Her poems have appeared online in The Bangor Literary Journal, Bonnies Crew, The Ink Pods, I Am Not A Silent Poet and many others. Maeve has work forthcoming in 100 Words Of Solitude, Bloody Amazing Anthology and Black Bough Poet.
