Not the time to be silent is an online Arts response to social distancing in the form of a weekly poetry reading + open mic and a community group.

Matt Mooney lives in Listowel, Co Kerry, Ireland. He was born in South Galway in 1943 and grew up on the family farm. He is a graduate of UCG and a post graduate of UCC. He has been a Vocational teacher in Glin, Co Limerick and in Listowel, Co Kerry until his retirement in 2002.
His first collection of poems ‘Droving’ was published in 2003, followed by ‘Falling Apples’ in 2010. ‘Earth to Earth’ (2015) and ‘The Singing Woods’ (2017). He has read on Radio Kerry, at Cúirt in Galway, at Baffle and at Féile Raifteirí in Loughrea, the White House Pub and On the Nail in Limerick, in Vancouver and on Victoria Island, The Forge at Gort Literary Festival, Writers’ Week, Listowel, The West Cork Literary Festival and at Ó Bhéal in Cork. He is a member of The Seanchaí Writers’ Group in Listowel.His poems have appeared in The Blue Nib, The Amaravati Poetic Prism Multi-Lingual Anthology Feasta, West 47, The Applicant, in ‘Ó Pheann go Pár’ of the Galway Advertiser, The Galway Review (online), and The Galway Review (printed edition) Anthology, The Kerryman and The Irish Independent.
He is Copy Editor and Poetry Reviewer with the The Galway Review Literary Magazine.
