SUMMARY:RINN: An Ireland and Japan dialogue on making\, place and time | Gr
 oup Exhibition at The Glucksman
DESCRIPTION:Sara Flynn\, Sueharu Fukami\, Shihoko Fukumoto\, Joe Hogan\, Ei
 ko Kishi\, Frances Lambe\, Deirdre McLoughlin\, O'Donnell + Tuomey\, Sator
 u Ozaki\, Sean Scully\, Joseph Walsh\, Kan Yasuda\, Osamu Yokoyama.\n\nCur
ated by Wahei Aoyama and Joseph Walsh.\n\nRINN explores the culture of mak
ing and its relationship to place and time through the work of Irish and J
apanese artists and architects. While each piece is a personal expression
of form\, their works are united by an immersion in the culture of making.
Whether drawing on craft heritage – the materials and skills associated
with place - or challenging new techniques and pursing new materials\, th
ey all share an intimate relationship with the handmade.\n\nRinn in Gaelic
means place or a point – and in Japanese\, the same word means circle\,
ring or circularity. Joseph Walsh has observed that the meaning in both l
anguages strongly represents ideas inherent in his practice\, of place and
this moment in time\, within a continuous cycle of time.\n\nPresented by
Making In by Joseph Walsh Studio as part of the Ireland Japan 2025 program
me in partnership with the Government of Ireland\, the exhibition premiere
d in April at both Ireland House and A Lighthouse called Kanata\, Tokyo.\n
\nThe Glucksman is proud to host the show on its return to Ireland.\n\nRIN
N is supported by The Arts Council Ireland\, University College Cork\, Gov
ernment of Ireland\, Ireland Japan 2025\, A Lighthouse Called Kanata\, and
private philanthropy through Cork University Foundation.
