Ross Stewart is an award winning director and art director of animated film and visual artist and has worked on 4 Oscar-nominated movies Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea, Paranorman, Wolfwalkers and The Prophet.
“We are delighted to present a solo exhibition of new work by Ross Stewart” said Joan Clancy “His semi abstract paintings inspired by the Irish land and culture are exhibited throughout Ireland and the UK and held in collections world-wide”.
”Ross has been exhibiting with us for the past number of years and he is no stranger to An Rinn having spent a year boarding in Scoil na Leanaí” she added.
Ross explains of his work “Since finishing production of our feature film Wolfwalkers last year I have returned to my painting studio after a long break. It has been a therapy and almost an exorcism of the rigid processes of animation.
“I am interested in taking elements of landscape studies and reducing down to simple shapes, whilst keeping a level of atmosphere and mood of the original study” he said.
Ross Stewart solo exhibition of new work opens in Joan Clancy Gallery on Thursday May 26 – Sunday June 12 daily 11am-5.30pm including the weekends and is well worth a visit; also featured on West Waterford Festival of Food Art Trail.
Joan Clancy Gallery is located 10k from Dungarvan in Mweelahorna, An Rinn overlooking Dungarvan Bay between the Cunnigar and Coláiste na Rinne.
