Arcade Studios is delighted to announce its first solo show ‘Someplace Always’ by Adam McIlwaine.
Adam McIlwaine is visual artist specialising primarily in Printmaking and Mixed media Collage. His practice seeks to explore and push the boundaries of print, working with found materials and textures and 2 and 3 dimensional forms.
This exhibition explores the relationship between place and escapism through American landscapes and iconography and the idea of romanticising somewhere we have never been. Spawning from a collection of collages produced from found imagery, these works aim to examine the romanticisation of ‘Americana’ and our view of it cultivated through pop culture, film, music etc. It is a look at our desire to escape. To get out of our own situation and take ourselves travelling to a different cosmic plane.
