 !\n\n\n\nMembers of the public are invited to attend our in-person talk du
 ring Heritage Week that will focus on the conservation of a true national 
 treasure.\n\n\n\nThe Goose Girl&nbsp\;(1888) is a much loved oil painting 
 by Edith Somerville in the collection of Crawford Art Gallery.\n\n\n\nThe 
 Goose Girl&nbsp\;is now the subject of conservation treatment while the do
 ors of Crawford Art Gallery are closed for its major redevelopment. Suppor
 ted by the Heritage Council through the Heritage Stewardship Fund 2025\, t
 his crucial work will ensure the historic painting’s future.\n\n\n\nThis
  public talk will shed new light on the painting\, exploring its history a
 nd the steps being taken to care for it in Crawford Art Gallery’s new mo
 bile conservation laboratory. This talk will feature three speakers: conse
 rvator Chiara Chillè\, registrar Jean O’Donovan\, and curator Michael W
 aldron.\n\n\n\nThis initiative underscores Crawford Art Gallery’s commit
 ment to best-practice heritage care\, adhering to a principle of minimal i
 ntervention—carrying out only those treatments necessary to stabilise an
 d preserve the original condition of an artwork.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
