SUMMARY:Talks | The Artist’s Inner World – Expressionism &amp\; Surreal
ism with Dr Matthew Whyte at Triskel Arts Centre
DESCRIPTION:Art Historian Dr Matthew Whyte offers a new lecture series\, wh
ich takes the audience on an art-filled journey through the often beautifu
l\, sometimes scandalous\, and always fascinating moments in the developme
nt of Western civilisation.\n\nWeek 4: The Artist’s Inner World – Expr
essionism &amp\; Surrealism\nThis week\, we catch a glimpse inside the min
d of the artist as we explore painters who sought to bring their inner wor
ld to life through their art. First\, we encounter the new Expressionism w
hich emerged through artists Vincent Van Gogh whose use of vivid colour an
d increasingly abstract lines famously paved the way for the wild new styl
es of Henri Matisse and the Fauvists. \n\n
