As part of the Science Festival NI this solo exhibition by Belfast Print Workshop member, Dr. Josephine McCormick explores and rethinks ‘The Frequency of Things’ in relation to the impact of ‘The Internet of Things’ (IoT). We are between two ages as we enter into the ‘technetronic’ era, the fourth industrial revolution. The connectivity of the ‘Internet of Things’ will fundamentally alter how we live, work and relate to one another. It is characterised by the fusion of technologies that are blurring the lines between the physical, digital, social and biological spheres. McCormick’s artwork utilizes an armoury of techniques such as a frequency generator, and printmaking in order to express frequencies including the 5G frequency, Cymatic frequencies and the Schumann resonance which is the frequency of human beings and the Earth at 7.83Hertz.
