The IRON-R Project- 2022
Celebrating 10 years since its inception in 2012 , The IRON-R Project will take place from June 20th to 22nd 2022 at Kilnageary Studios, Carrigaline, Co.Cork. The IRON-R Project first took place at the National Sculpture Factory in 2012 and again in 2014 and featured a major performance project on Cork dock side by US based Artist Matt Toole & James L Hayes.
The project also took place in 2018 at the NSF and featured a large scale durational iron casting performance by US Artist Tamsie Ringler & the IRON-R Project team. Since its inception, over 100 national and international artists and art students have participated in the in the project , casting over 6 tons of iron sculpture made from found and recycled cast iron.
The project has collaborated with many organizations and institutes including The The National Sculpture Factory, Cork City Council , Cork County Council , MTU CCAD, Coleg Sirgar -The University of West Wales(UK), Savannah College of Art & Design (USA), University College Denver (USA), The University of Minnesota (USA) and The La Salle College of the Creative Arts in Singapore.
The IRON-R Project in 2022, will feature works and projects made by a number of artists including Rachel Fallon, James L Hayes, Catherine Hehir, Mick Wilkins, Darragh Wilkins, John Cronin, Alek Kowalczyk, Oisin Hanrahan , Lynn-Marie Dennehy and fine art students from MTU CCAD, Cork & TUS LSAD, Limerick .
The project is made possible in 2022 by funding support from Cork County Council.
