An immersive audio visual piece designed to weave a number of narratives, on a number of levels. As the story unfolds we follow a mythical journey along the river Ilen – themes of gain and loss, tree-lore, land and water, continuity and change. The visual narrative content of these filmed vignettes are short scenes balanced on symbolic and theatrical gesture. These narratives will be built from a number of sources; stories gathered locally, augmented extracts from collectors such as Gregory and Yeats and new narratives generated by the act of “making” within the workspace of the environment and the community. Although localised, through the gathered materials, these elements are also rendered transnational, through the underlying universal symbolic content, having therefore attributes that will continue to generate internal dialogue.
