At a time of ecological crisis, changing weather systems, and species extinctions, how can we think differently about caring for wounded places and create healthier relations with our environments? Learn from artists who have ‘stayed with the trouble’ (Donna Haraway, 2016) and work with human/natural communities in peatlands, woodlands, fields and cities in southwest Ireland. Join artists Monica de Bath, Cathy Fitzgerald, Pauline O’Connell and Seodín O’Sullivan in a series of short conversations with Nessa Cronin (NUI Galway Centre for Irish Studies), and Patrick Bresnihan, Gerry Kearns and Karen Till (Maynooth Geography). An group exhibition launch with works from the featured artists in this symposium will follow the discussion at the Maynooth University Library, with short introductions to works by artists starting at 6pm.
