The MAC is fortunate to be located beside the Belfast School of Art and benefits immensely from the ongoing engagement we have with both staff and students.
As a near neighbour, we are aware of the devastating effect that COVID-19 has had on the BA and MFA Fine Art Class of 2020 with the cancellation of the final year shows. We are delighted to have, for our first reopening exhibition, a selection of work from the graduate class of 2020.
The BA Fine Art course reflects and supports the diversity of contemporary art practice including Painting, Video, Photography, Sculpture, Drawing, Performance, Printmaking, Time-based work, and studies in History and Theory. Students are taught the practical, philosophical, contextual and professional aspects of art practice.
The MFA was established 1979 and has a long and proven track record of providing a rigorous studio-based programme with access to the expertise of a core staff of nationally and internationally recognised visiting artists. Within the studio and wider environments, the diversity of teaching input by staff and visiting artists reflects the range of approaches and contexts embraced.
Critical discourse on practice with an emphasis on analysis and self-reflection contributes to an understanding of contemporary art located within a larger cultural, social and political context.
Pre-booking your ticket to our exhibitions is now essential. Please book via the MAC Belfast website.
