Gerard Byrne is showing a new installation of text and images in our Atrium.
Gerard Byrne is one of the two inaugural holders of Six Year Membership Studios at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios (2020-2026). He has exhibited extensively throughout the world for the past two decades. His recent major solo exhibitions include: In Our Time, Gösta Serlachius Museum, Finland (2019); Upon all the living and the dead, Secession, Vienna (2019); A Visibility Matrix (in collaboration with Sven Anderson) The Douglas Hyde Gallery, Dublin; Toulouse Arts Festival; VOID, Derry (2018/2019); Moderna Museet, Stockholm (2017); Whitechapel Gallery, London (2013); The Renaissance Society, Chicago (2011); Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin (2011). He has participated in several important city-wide art exhibitions and biennales including, most recently: FRONT International, Cleveland (2018); Skulptur Projekte Münster (2017); dOCUMENTA (13), Kassel (2012). Gerard Byrne represented Ireland at the 52nd Venice Biennale (2007). He is an advocate for the establishment of new artist studio spaces in Dublin as part of the Creative Spaces Collective.
The Temple Bar Gallery + Studios Atrium connects the public gallery to the individual artists’ private working spaces. Current TBG+S studio artists are invited to use the Atrium to test experimental work or exhibit ideas and artworks in progress.
